Speaking / Leaving a legacy of honor

Leaving the Healthcare Campsite Better Than You Found It:

What Legacy Will You Leave?

Welch bases this talk on Where Roots Grow Deep (Harvest House), his 1999 book about understanding how, for better or worse, we touch the world even after we’re gone.  But create our legacies while we’re still here. This talk compels audiences to not float or bumble through life, but to live intentionally, with a grand purpose in mind. The title is based on something Welch’s father used to tell him when they’d camp in the Cascades as Bob was growing up: “We have no control over how we find a campsite, but we do have control over how we leave it.”

Particularly good audiences:

Organizations putting on fundraisers and wanting people to think beyond the “now” with their finances. Auctions, capital campaigns and events that might involve, say, hospices and the elderly. Example: an event Welch keynoted at New England Sinai Hospital and Rehabilitation Center in Boston was in honor of a young man who had died after a courageous struggle with a brain tumor, and whose parents donated a substantial amount of money to the medical center in his name. He used the talk to point out that the young man’s legacy would live on, just as Frances Slanger’s had.
