Bob Welch is a columnist at The Register-Guard and an adjunct professor of journalism at the University of Oregon in Eugene.

In 2006, his work was chosen best in the country by the National Society of Newspaper Columnists.

Welch is the author of 10 books, including the Oregon Book Award-finalist American Nightingale, which was featured on ABC's "Good Morning America."

He is a three-time judge of the Erma Bombeck Humor Writing contest and recently spoke at the National Writers Workshop.

He speaks across the country and puts on his own Beachside Writers Workshop in Yachats.
